FAQs about what to pack for a Whitsunday catamaran tour
How much luggage can I bring on a catamaran tour?
Most catamarans only accept a small, soft bag with the essentials for the tour. Storage space is limited onboard, so large suitcases or bags with wheels are usually not allowed.
Check out where to store excess luggage in Airlie Beach if required!
Do we need to bring linens or towels?
Catamaran tours in the Whitsundays all have fresh linens on the beds, and bath towels are usually provided. You may want to bring your own beach towel!
How much food is included?
All meals are included on your catamaran tour! This may also include snacks and drinking water, tea, and coffee. Feel free to bring your own snacks if you want to, and let us know in advance of any dietary requirements so the crew can prepare.
Can we BYO alcohol?
Yes, most overnight catamaran tours are BYO alcohol. You can purchase your favorite drinks from a bottle shop in Airlie Beach and bring them on the tour to enjoy. Note that many vessels do not allow glass or red wine.
Do we need to bring shoes?
Catamarans in the Whitsundays are generally no-shoes vessels, meaning you are required to be barefoot while you are on the boat. But it's a good idea to pack some sandals and/or walking shoes for on-shore activities, such as the walk to Hill Inlet Lookout or visiting other unique islands and lookouts in the Whitsundays.
Do we need sun protection in the Whitsundays?
Absolutely, the Whitsundays are a tropical destination and sun protection is essential year-round. Don't skip the sunscreen, and always pack extra essentials like a hat, sunglasses, or a sunshirt/sarong to cover up when the sun is at its peak.
